Why Question Learning?

Perhaps more than twenty five percent of children struggle in school. It seems to be hard to come up with good statistics these days. Statistics don't always tell the whole story anyway. They can be helpful indicators of how to measure or understand some of the problems. I have kids that are challenged by school to the point of wishing to check out. They think life without school would be wonderful. I remember thinking the same thing as a child. I spent a lot of time in school not wanting to be there. I would have loved to spend all my time in the woods studing plants and animals. You can learn that way but being able to deal with today's fast paced society and all of the many technologies that are supposed to make our lives eaiser makes it harder. The nice part is that we have the privilage through video and pictures to bring a lot of the outdoors in. So why don't we have math that kids count trees for a house project, flowers for a bouquet, teaspoons of salt for cooking? Well just because somebody has not come up with it.
In this site I hope to help kids by working in a number of directions. I want to put into the hands of struggling parents tools and resources to help them find solutions. I also wish to help teachers understand their students. I teach and I want to reach each child left in my care with the best I can give them. I love kids and think that they deserve the best we can give them.
I hope you will spend some time looking around and find what you are looking for or at least a link that will help you on your way.
